As of July 23, the Kela-2 gas field, the main gas source for the West-East Gas Pipeline, has produced a total of 4 billion cubic meters of natural gas since the beginning of this year. As a result, the largest natural gas field in China has been put into production since December 1, 2004. Accumulated production of 66 billion cubic meters of natural gas is expected to exceed 70 billion cubic meters by the end of this year, leaving more than 300 million residents across the country with clean energy.

According to the person in charge of the Kela 2 operation area of ​​the Tarim Oilfield Company, this year, the total volume of natural gas from the Kela 2, Dabei and Keshen three gas field projects in Baicheng County is 8.2 billion cubic meters, of which the Kela 2 gas field is exported. The natural gas task is 7.6 billion cubic meters. The gas transmission tasks of the Great Northern and Keshen two gas fields are 600 million cubic meters. Up to now, there are 15 production wells in the Kela 2 gas field, and the daily output can reach 20 million cubic meters per day. Exported 4 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

Located in Baicheng County, the Kela 2 gas field was discovered in January 1998. At present, the proven gas-bearing area of ​​the gas field is 47 square kilometers, the average thickness of the gas layer is 287 meters, and the geological reserve of natural gas is 284.068 billion cubic meters. The thickness and reserves of the reservoir are Large and abundance, rare in the world, and thus making the Kela 2 gas field become China's largest reserves, ultra-high pressure, high abundance, high yield of land, large-scale natural gas fields. It was precisely because of the discovery and exploration of the Kela 2 gas field that it directly contributed to the “West-East Gas Transmission” project, and the birth of an energy transmission artery that spans China’s east and west.

Since it was put into production on December 1, 2004, the advanced technology and management of the Kela 2 gas field has promoted the efficient development of the gas field. The gas production from the gas field has increased from an annual output of more than 3 billion cubic meters at the beginning of production to 10 billion cubic meters at present, becoming the first in China. A single annual gas output exceeded 10 billion cubic meters of gas fields.

The actual permanent population of Beijing is about 20 million people. According to a family of three people who use one cubic meter of natural gas per day, the maximum daily output of the Kela 2 gas field can reach 20 million cubic meters per day, which can guarantee the entire population of Beijing for three days. . With natural gas sources going east, more than 80 large and medium-sized cities and more than 300 million residents in the lower reaches of the West-East Gas Pipeline have used high-quality natural gas from the Kela 2 gas field.

It is reported that after Central Asia's natural gas enters the second pipeline of the West-East Gas Pipeline, the Kela 2 gas field scientifically adjusts its operational mode, transforms its previous function of “main supply first, second peak adjustment”, and controls the gas production speed, while accelerating the carat 3 The exploration and development of neighboring blocks such as Keshen 2 and Keshen 2 provide continuous resource protection for China’s energy “big arteries”.
