At 16:30, the three children of Zeng Kai's family in Zengkai Village, Jianjiao Village, Yungui Township, Zeng Wei (13 years old), Zeng Cai (9 years old), and Zeng Hui (7 years old) cut grass in the mountains and encountered thunderstorms. After the explosion, Zeng Wei and Zeng Cai were killed on the spot, and Zeng Hui was seriously injured and hospitalized. On the same day, Ma Xun, a worker at Yanye Station in Xiushui Township of the county, Tu Dajun, a villager in Liuping Village, Yancang Town, and Li Junjun, a villager in Daluo Village were also struck by lightning.
