Recently, a professor from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Hefei University of Technology, from Huai Ping's research team, and a research team of Professor Yu Shuhong of the University of Science and Technology of China, successfully developed a new super-scalable capacitor through integrated device configuration design, and achieved the first charge and discharge in the world. The real-time self-repair in the process provides a new way to develop smart flexible energy storage devices and is expected to promote the development of flexible and wearable electronic devices in the future. Related results were published online in "Advanced Materials" a few days ago.
The current scalable supercapacitor has limited mechanical deformation ability, and the electrode layer and the electrolyte layer are prone to misalignment. In response to this problem, researchers innovatively introduced dynamic metal coordination bonds in the process of monomer-initiated polymerization, and successfully developed nanocomposite hydrogel electrodes and electrolytes with excellent stretch properties and optical and electrical multiple stimulation response repair properties. By further chemically welding the silver nanowire film on the gel electrode as a current collector, the team realized the use of the rich metal-sulfur coordination between the layers and chemical bonding to construct a supercapacitor with an overall configuration.
Based on the optimization of the microstructure and interface forces of the various component layers of the capacitor and the integrated device configuration design, this new supercapacitor has excellent flexibility and repairability. The experimental results show that the surface capacitance of the new capacitor is as high as 885 mF / cm2, and the tensile strain can be up to 8 times the original length. At the same time, based on the excellent intrinsic elasticity and self-repair performance of the electrode and electrolyte and the integrated device configuration design, the capacitor has fast photo-repair capability and efficient electrical real-time self-repair capability.
